Repeat prescriptions are medicines you take regularly throughout the year, that are working to help manage a health condition. Repeat medicines will not include those used for short periods of time such as antibiotics.
If you require a repeat prescription you must contact the surgery at least 5 working days before you need the medication.
How to order a repeat prescription?
The best way to order repeat medication is by using the NHS app which can be downloaded via NHS App – Apps on Google Play or NHS App on the App Store (apple.com), you can also do this via the NHS website Access your NHS account – NHS (www.nhs.uk)
Before accessing the NHS app for the first time, your GP surgery needs to set up your account- we just need a copy of your ID to issue a username and password. For security reasons these details can only be given to you in person.
The other method of obtaining repeat medication is by using the repeat slip attached to your prescription and bringing it into the surgery.
If you wish to order a medicine which isn’t on your repeat list then this can be done via our online consultation platform or sent in writing to the surgery as you would do with a paper repeat prescription.
Please note: we cannot take repeat prescription requests over the phone, our online consultation platform or via email.
How to nominate a pharmacy to supply your medicines?
To choose a specific community pharmacy to supply your medicines , we suggest that you use the NHS app. If you do not nominate a pharmacy you can collect your medication using the prescription barcode in the NHS App from any pharmacy.
Online-only pharmacies send your medicines in the post. To nominate an online-only pharmacy, you must register with the pharmacy through their website or contact them. It’s not possible to nominate an online-only pharmacy using the NHS App or website.
